ABOUT US

Welcome to Coastal Hillbilly Leather Goods!

Coastal Hillbilly is a family business out of a small workshop near the beach in our hometown of Wilmington, NC.  Our work is influenced by high fashion, timeless craftsmanship from the mountains, as well as rustic simplicity of the back woods.

In 2015, Robin Manning started with a basic Bernina sewing machine, waxed thread, and some leather carving tools at the kitchen table.  She had years of experience making bags, having learned how to sew from her mother, but became interested in leather crafts after trying her hand at a few leather belts. After years of working out of her garage, Robin opened the Coastal Hillbilly brick and mortar workshop/retail space in May of 2021. Now the setup is much better by having a full workshop, some high powered sewing equipment, and a couple extra helping hands. Producing high quality leather goods for our customers is what we love.

American sourced leather is our leather of choice whenever possible.  All bags are made by hand in Wilmington, NC, from tanned full-grain leather hides. The vast majority of our bags are made to order or in very small batches. We are constantly evolving our style, so keep an eye out for new color combos and short-run items! Our products are all made with love and dedication to crafting you something that will last a lifetime.  Enjoy!
